Voces Bolivianas is a participatory citizen’s media project that promotes the use of ICT (Internet and Communication Technologies) to allow Bolivians especially from underrepresented groups to share their stories about their lives and communities, thus deciding how they are represented.Through interactive and hands-on workshops, participants will learn about the use participatory media tools such as blogging, digital photography, podcasting and videos in order to create their own content. In this manner, ordinary Bolivians become creators of content, rather than only consumers.
This organization implemented its first pilot project in El Alto September 2007. Currently, a second project in El Alto is taking place, and there are plans for another project to open in Santa Cruz in January 2008.
The pilot program is made possible by a grant from Rising Voices, the outreach arm of Global Voices Online.
